I have heard many people talking about free software , but I wasn't really sure its definition and its benefits, that's why I decided to investigate and publish it on my blog.
The definition published by Free Software Fundation in february 1986 had two points:
The word "free" in our name does not refer to price; its refer to freedom. First the freedom to copy a program and redistribute it to your neighbors, so that they can use it instead of it controlling you; for this, the source code must be made available to you.
Now the modern definition has four point; it defines free software by wether or not the recipient has the freedom to:

- Run the program, for any purpose.
- Study how the program works.
- Redistribute copies so you can help your neighbor.
- Improve the program, and release your improvements to the public, so that the whole comunity benefits.
- Forget about virus.
- Linux can be so stable that the majority of users will never see their operating system to be hung, even several years.
- Protection.
- Linux cost anything.
